To all involved with the School Play;
In the last few months, we have had some excellent rehearsals, and the beginning of the play has really started to take shape. Those of you who have not yet rehearsed your scene - I'm getting really excited about what is to come. I think you're really going to enjoy yourself.
Having said that, there are two points which I regret I have to make.
Recasting.
Firstly, due to various issues (including people leaving school to prepare for University - for which they have my absolute best wishes) there are a number of casting changes. There may be more necessary in the near future, but for smaller roles.
The role of Olivia Morrison will now be played by Isla VDH.
The role of Jane Banks will now be played by Leah C.
The roles of Chardonnay and Angelene are also needing to be recast. An update will be added to the blog.
Absences.
Secondly, I have a statement to make about attendance. It is very disappointing to me to have to make this announcement, but my priority - as far as the school play goes - is always to the group rather than individuals.
Over the last few rehearsals there have been people who - for one reason or another - have missed one of more rehearsals without informing me. This is such a regrettable thing to do because it means that other cast members are left unable to rehearse a scene properly, or sometimes at all.
Obviously, sometimes there are unavoidable issues - illness, University open days, etc. - and absence by itself is not an issue. However, it is important that I be told so that I can inform other cast members who may be able to do something more productive if their scene isn't being rehearsed.
To inform me; post to this blog with your name and the reason you won't be here, phone or email the school and ask them to inform me specifically, or send a message in with a fellow pupil.
If absence is not essential, pleas remember that roughly 30 other people are relying on you. This should be high on your priorities list and if it can't be then you shouldn't do the play.
If there are many more unexplained absences from the cast, they the best course of action might be to cancel the play and replace it with a less formal drama project. It's not an ideal solution, especially for those who have been here every time, but it is a way to limit disruption and still perform to an audience.
Please leave a comment here with your own name so that I know you have read it.
Kind regards,
Mr. Harris
